Scouts from all over the country assembled at Siphofaneni on 17 June 2017 to commemorate the Day of the African Child. Over 300 scouts arrived for the activity on Friday 16 June 2017.
To grace this very important event, the Deputy Prime Minister Hon Paul Dlamini joined scouts for a 3 km walk from the Siphofaneni Town to Siphofaneni School Hall. The Hon Deputy Prime Minister than made a key note address where challenged scouts to be champion on issues of children in the country. He emphasised that scouts should advocate for the protection of the right of the child. He acknowledge the great work done by scouts and promised that His Majesty’s Government will continue support scouts in all their program.
Also present during the event was UNICEF Country Representative, Ms Rachel Odede who also appreciated the works done by scouts in advocating for children right and engaging young people through the U-Report Platform. Odede pledged support towards scouts and promised that UNICEF will continue support scouts in the Kingdom
