Eswatini Scout is finalising the development of the Youth programme, an exercise which was initiated in 2019 with the the technical support from the World Organization of the Scout Moment through the WOSM Service Platform. A WOSM Consultant was assigned in 2019 and the Youth Programme Development Workshop was successfully conducted after a Youth Programme Development Task Team was appointed.
A nationwide consultation exercise was conducted in 2020 and the draft was concluded towards the end of 2020 as process was hardly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the Association leadership proved to be resilient as other means were employed to finalize the Development of the Youth Programme Record Books for all Sections in January 2021 where a production of 1500 copies was done courtesy of funds received from the Messengers of Peace.
The Association initiated the development of the Youth Programme Manual, which will be a guide to Scout Leaders as they deliver the Youth Programme to young people. The exercise has been underway since January 2021 with a series of workshops conducted to consult Scout Leaders, particularly Area Commissioners who will leading pilot exercise. The development of the Manual is now at final stage as funds for production for the Manual were also secured through the Messengers of Peace initiative.
The Scout Youth Programme is basically the syllabus through which the Scout Movement deliver life skills to young people. The successfully development of a relevant and flexible Youth Programme will ensure Scouting attract more young people and create a Better World.
